Marta Severo, Eleni Mouratidou, and Zhao Alexandre Huang will present their research at the international conference “Communicating for a Better World,” taking place October 21–23, 2026, in New York, with online sessions also available on October 21.

Organized by Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies at the City University of New York (CUNY), with support from United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), the conference will bring together scholars, communication professionals, civil society actors, diplomats, and United Nations representatives.
Communication and International Cooperation
The conference will examine how communication contributes to international cooperation and responses to global challenges. Topics will include changes in international organizations’ communication, information integrity, artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and public diplomacy.
The program will combine research presentations, plenary discussions, and workshops involving scholars and practitioners.
The DICEN research laboratory and the PubDiplo project are also supporting the conference. Through their participation, Marta Severo, Eleni Mouratidou, and Zhao Alexandre Huang will bring the laboratory’s and the project’s research into dialogue with the scholarship and professional experiences shared in this international setting.
A Roundtable on Communicating Multilateralism
On October 23, Zhao Alexandre Huang will organize a roundtable on communicating multilateralism in fragmented global public spheres and join the discussion alongside researchers in public diplomacy and artificial intelligence.
The roundtable will examine how digital platforms, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical tensions are reshaping United Nations communication, with particular attention to trust, legitimacy, dialogue, and ethical responsibility.
Program and Registration
Participation is free, with registration required, either in person in New York on October 21–23 or through the online sessions on October 21. The conference website provides the full program and registration information.
